Strontian Barite Mine, Strontian, Highland Region, Scotland
457
Interesting and rich pyrite specimen with a dusting of brewsterite crystals from Strontain Main mine. The specimen has an apparent break across it with 'rivulets' of later pyrite alongside it and in it healing the fracture. This suggest early tectonic movement, the fracture being a conduit for a small later pyrite formation.
Formula: Pyrite FeS2; Brewsterite (Sr,Ba) 2Al4Si12O32.10H2O
Status: Sold
Dimensions: 55x30x20mm
