To the east of Leeds during the widening of the A1 motorway in the 1990's a series of cavities in the Permian limestone were exposed from which a number of mineral specimens were recovered. This specimen was one of those consisting of stubby chisel shaped barite crystals with a dusting of calcite. Unusual location piece.
