Mexico mine, Roughton Gill, Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria, England
765
Dry Gill is famous for its red 'campylite' a variety of mimetite with curved faces. However in the 1980's a dig found red mimetite on one tip in the Mexico mine area of Roughton Gill. The specimens showed the same curved faces as Dry Gill mine but all had a semi-matt luster and occasionally displayed a yellow spot at the end of the crystal. Interesting specimen.
