Boulby Mine, Loftus, North Yorkshire, England
565
In recent times a single boulder of boracite produced a small group of rich blue crystals of a size rarely found at Boulby, the largest being 6mm across. These orthorombic crystals show oscillating growth with light and dark edge segments dusted with smaller second generation crystals. (N.B. Boracite colour depth alters when viewed in incandescent lighting and daylight).
