340 Level, Cambokeels Mine, Eastgate, Weardale, Co. Durham. England

The 340 level at Cambokeels mine produced fluorites of a unique Weardale colour - purple but at the red end of the spectrum. This specimen is just such a colour with, additionally, numerous incipient twins on the faces of the large crystal. Some edge damage but most from the 340 level have this to some degree. Sawn base. The mine has been flooded since it closure in 1989.
