Hilgardite is one of the rarer borates and occurs sparingly at Boulby. This particularly rich specimens on boracite spheres formed from aggregated micro crystalsovergrown with possibly two generations of later euhedral tetragonal crystals of boracite. (N.B. Boracite colour depth alters when viewed in incandescent lighting and daylight).
