Loch Scridain, Isle of Mull, Scotland

Loch Scridain on the Isle of Mull occasionaly produces sapphire specimens this being a particularly fine and large example with a little pale pink matted crystals of Mullite (as in picture 4) and darker spinels. The sapphire have good colour and whilst most are incomplete there are occasional whole crystals. Also a few small cavities of a zeolite. Loch Scridain is the type locality for Mullite
