Aragonite & Todorokite

Aragonite, although generally quite rare in Weardale, did occur at Broadwood quarry near Stanhope. The quarry was worked for limestone in the first few years of this century as well as being the location for the processing plant treating fluorspar from the Cambokeels and Frazer's Hush mines. This miniature has stubby transparent aragonite crystals enhanced by a rich carpet of later silver-brown todorokite.
