The Isle of Skye is well known for its zeolite mineralisation including Stellerite although this orthorhombic member of the Stilbite group has only been found at one location on the island. This specimen, part of the original 1980 find, was found when a new road cutting was being put through on the A850 just outside Edinbane. Part of a large cavity, The stellerite forms lustrous cream coloured crystals with rounded terminations.
