Frazer's Hush Mine, Rookhope, Weardale, Co. Durham, England
2205
Interlocking untwinned fluorite crystals up to 52mm across, with a pleasing dusting of quartz, such that the fluorite colour still comes through. The back of the specimen suggests at some time in its geological history the piece has broken off with subsequently irregular shaped fluorite crystals growing over the break followed by a sprinkling of well-formed attractive prismatic calcite crystals. Frazer's Hush was the last commercial mine to work in Weardale, closing in 1998. A good display specimen from the Roland Thomas collection.
