Anglezarke Lead Mine, Chorley, Lancashire, England

Anglezarke is mineralogically an Interesting location as for many years the mines were considered the type locality for Witherite but nowadays Brownley Hil mine in Cumbria is given that accolade. Only rarely do specimens comes up for sale from Anglezarke and this makes this barite quite unusual.
In appearance it is a cavernous specimen with numerous areas of chisel shaped cream coloured barite crystals. The original label states the specimen was collected in 1960 from White Coppice Quarry.
