Aggregated pale blue crystals with transparent edges, in part, overgrown by a smaller later generation of white opaque crystals. All the crystals have a tetragonal appearance although boracite is orthorhombic. The colour of boracite deepens when viewed in incandescent lighting compared to daylight.
