Sphalerite

Fall Hill Quarry, Ashover, Derbyshire, England

Rich area of sharp sphalerite crystals, the smaller ones of a 'ruby' red colour, the larger ones up to 7mm in size. There are some accompanying  hydrocarbon 'blobs' and interestingly one sphalerite crystal has grown in a black hydrocarbon lined cavity. Ex. Ray Richardson collection collected in the 1980's
