Dirtlow Rake, Castleton, Derbyshire, England
1614
Dirtlow Rake was a prolific producer of specimens whilst being worked for fluorite and barytes in the 1970's and 1980's. It is now landscaped and grassed over. Occasionally a form of stalagtitic barite occurred and this is a fine example of this unusual type as far as i know unique to Dirtlow. The specimen consists of numerous intergrown stalagmites each with a central hole around which there are roughly circular bands of different coloured barite.
