Meldon quarry produced a significant amount of large coarse axinite but this specimen has smaller euhedral crystals up to 2cms. The crystals are lustrous and sufficienly translucent to show the classic plum colour of axinites. Ex. Dick Braithwaite collection collected in 1967. Sawn base.
