Calcite on Quartz

Cambokeels Mine, Eastgate, Weardale, Co. Durham, England

Blocky calcite crystal, sharp and lustrous, pleasingly set on a bed of sparkling quartz. Calcite is fluorescent in both short and long wave UV light. Fine example from the 'Zinc-flats' at about level 320. Ex. Jean Spence collection with original Alan Winrow label.
