In 2015 a small one-off find of a blue beryl was made in Afghanistan. it's unusual habit in thin hexagonal blue plates and chemical analysis lead some to believe it to be Vorobyevite, a cesium rich/alkali rich variety of beryl. However some are sceptical and it seems that more work needs to be done. This specimen is quite aesthetic with sharp well formed pale blue platelets to 10mm formed over a mica matrix.
